this time for africa
this time for africa...
yeah, this time is for africa to organize world cup, the biggest show on earth. this world cup has a hugely symbolic meaning for a continent, just like 8 years ago in asia. a continent that is so often mired in the misery of mankind, war, and desperation of deep poverty. but until now, i think south africa has been a successful country for organizing a big tournament like world cup.
many surprises in 2010, big teams like france, italy, spain, england, and germany look difficult to beat other teams which under their level. unfortunately, this world cup has less goals than previous. many teams have demonstrate defensive football to match the top teams. finalist, france and italy, packed their bag earlier this week. asian finalist, korea and japan, has trough to second round for the first time in other country. but only one african participant, ghana, trough to second round. despite of surprises, i think the champion must be from the country that have track record of winning world cup. i think south american teams like argentina and brazil look convincing in the first round.
having won their five world cups in europe (1958), south america (1962), north america (1970 and 1994), and asia (2002), brazil now need africa to complete the set. this being brazil, though, merely winning is not always seen as good enough. dunga has suggested that they don't play jogo bonito. the important thing is winning, no matter what. devastating on the counter-attack and with a superb array of set-piece variations, dunga's team has no lack of individual skill and technical excellence.
in the centre of midfield, they now have gilberto silva and felipe melo, a formidable physical block, with magnificent build up when they do the counter. not like a usual brazil, they now have the most strong defence with figure like lucio, juan, and one of the greatest goalkeeper, julio cesar. don't forget maicon and michel bastos in the full back. frontman, kaka, will join robinho, the king of step-over. at front luis fabiano is clinical finisher for brazil.
how about argentina? maradona has build such a great team and has turning all the doubts before the world cup begin. hope lies in the fact that argentina have so many players showing up well and scoring regularly in the major european leagues. lionel messi has shown his impact to the team in last 3 matches. maybe this is his time to prove that he is the greatest.
maradona prefers to adopt 4-3-1-2 with messi as a playmaker for the team behind tevez and higuain. argentina likes to build his teams from the back with gutierrez, samuel, demichelis and heinze. in midfield, mascherano, the skipper, must organize the team with veteran, veron, and di maria. argentina has so many options in front with the name of messi, tevez, higuain, aguero, and milito. they are world class forward.
whoever win the world cup, it doesn't matter as long as world cup can entertain and unite people...
